Minnesota Divorce Residency Requirements

To obtain a Minnesota divorce, one spouses must have been a resident of Minnesota for at least 180 days immediately before the petition for divorce is filed.

Minnesota Divorce Filing Requirements

 A Minnesota divorce petition may be filed in a county where either spouse resides.

Minnesota Divorce Grounds:

The only ground for Minnesota divorce is the Irrevocable breakdown of the marriage. This can be shown by living separate and apart for 180 days or serious marital discord that adversely affecting the attitude of one or both of the spouses toward the marriage.
