Michigan Child Support Issues & Resources
Michigan Child Support
Michigan child support is calculated based upon a formula. The amount of
child support derived
from the formula is presumed to be correct unless it is shown to be unjust or
inappropriate. A Michigan child support Order may include provisions for
medical care, child care, and educational expenses of the child. A Michigan Divorce
Judgment must include a provision that requires one or both of the
parents to provide health care
coverage, if such coverage is available at a reasonable cost as a benefit of employment. All payments of child support
shall be ordered to be make through the Michigan Friend of
the Court Bureau.
