Louisiana Divorce Residency Requirements

 A Louisiana divorce can be brought where either party is domiciled or in the parish of the last matrimonial domicile.

Louisiana Divorce Grounds

The grounds for Louisiana divorce are as follows: 

  • that a party desires a divorce; 

  • that the spouses have been living separate and apart for a period of 6 months or more on the date of filing the petition; 

  • that the other spouse has committed adultery; and 

  • that the other spouse has committed a felony and has been sentenced to death or imprisonment with hard labor.
