Iowa Child Support


Iowa child support is based upon written guidelines. The amount of child support determined by use of the guidelines is presumed to be correct but may be adjusted for fairness or special needs of the child. The Court will consider the following factors in determining Iowa child support:

  • the child's need for close contact with both parents; 

  • the recognition of joint parental responsibilities for the welfare of the child; and 

  • consideration of each case's individual facts.
